Attached, please find the materials and details that have been shared with each of your superintendents/district administrations, regarding County Executive Jim Tedesco’s Mobile Covid-19 Testing initiative for Bergen County’s public school employees.
Bergen County is the first and only county in New Jersey, to have committed its county government resources to such an undertaking. And for that, BCEA would like to express our deepest appreciation for the County Executive’s prioritizing the safety, health, and well-being of our members.
(BCEA acknowledges the valid concern that the timing of the testing falls smack in the middle of many of our workdays, 9am to 3:30pm. It does complicate a well-intentioned initiative. BCEA has reached out to the County Superintendent on this matter. Mr. DeLisio has heard and has acknowledged BCEA’s concerns. BCEA will also continue to provide feedback to the County Executive’s Office, seeking to shape any future and related efforts, involving public school employees.)
Bergen County has been divided into four testing regions, which are spelled out in the attached. Each region will be testing on one of four specified days, also spelled out in the attached.
The Rutgers-developed Saliva Test will be implemented.
There are some local superintendents who are adjusting the workday, providing release times for their faculty and staff, in order to take advantage of their testing day.
